These are guys that are supremely confident in their ability to succeed and the scariest part is they’re not bluffing. Contrary to the stereotype, they’re far from unwilling to standout (in fact, they do extraneous things to attract attention), and they don’t hesitate to recruit others they feel might be willing to join their cause. Zankyou no Terror‘s first episode is all about setting up that sense of uneasiness, and it’s readily apparent that things aren’t quite as they seem. There’s no guarantee of any pattern to find or any clues to point you in the right direction and it’s an unnerving thought that nightmares are made of.

You’re dealing with a needle in a haystack in terms of the population and to top it off, they’re people whose sole purpose is to generate fear no matter what it takes and how long it takes to do it. And how can you? They could be the friendly neighbor next door, the guy that you paid to mow your lawn, or Zankyou no Terror’s case, that new classmate in your high school. Somewhere out there, someone’s sweating it out as we speak, racing against time to ensure these two things never come together. And others calm you down just enough… for you to be dragged out of your trance when the show pulls a 180 in terms of drama. Some continuously ring in your ears and make you tremble in fear.

Without them, the recipe would just be incomplete, no matter how good some of the writing was at building up suspense. Seriously, the art and soundtrack are what make this show what it is. In its lows, you can still feel the heavy weight of the suspense and drama, thanks to the aforementioned amazing artwork and powerful soundtrack. In its highs, you’re completely glued to your screen, as if begging it to tell you what’s going to happen next. When it comes to keeping audiences on the edges of their seats, this show is one of the best at it. It’s a beautiful mix of calming vocals and instrumentals, and then you have the soundtracks that rile your blood and send a chill down your spine. Just my personal opinion, but seriously, just listen to it, it’s amazing. There is no way to capture how great some of the animation is in just one paragraph. Just about anybody, of all musical tastes, could listen to the soundtrack and think its great. Sweeping skylines, glorious explosions, and just amazing animation.

This of course varies from person to person, and sometimes the enjoyment of the show is ruined by too high expectations, so if you want to go in without too many expectations, then stop reading here!
